South Zeal Carnival Scarecrow Competition October 2020

"Waking up on October 24th looking out of the window, the traditional Carnival weather was with us.
Unfortunately this year we didn’t have to make the difficult decision to hold the afternoon parade in the hall. We didn’t have to go around and put no parking signs or road closed signs up, the committee didn’t have to run around in the rain then go home and change 2 or 3 times throughout the day. We moan about the rain watch the forecast all week hoping, with fingers crossed that the forecast would change in our favour.
None of this happened were we disappointed yes will we be doing it again let’s hope so. Once Carnival gets into you there is no giving up.
So let’s hope we can bring it back to you in 2021!!

So what could we do to mark the occasion whilst adhering to government guidelines.
We decided to hold a scarecrow and decorated window competition. All we can say is wow how inventive and decorative it was.
From the traditional scarecrow to Joe wicks it was lovely to see. Then the windows we had crafts that had been done through lockdown to a calendar of events.
We want to thank everyone who took the time to enter and take part. Also thank you to the judges who had the tricky task that we were glad we didn’t.
Roll on 2021 Carnival" Vicki Watkins
